Doesn't everyone own a digital Camera?

I am often surprised to come across blogs, magazine articles, or other news stories where the writer is talking about converting to digital photography. Unless your too poor to own a cell phone or so far off the grid that you can't get the internet that you don't own at least one digital camera the point of these musings is mute. Why do writers continually write about old stuff as if it is just happening? Perhaps it's new to them so it must be new to everyone. Like when a writer discovers a new fad and writes about it after it so not cool as to be offered at the local $1 dollar store or Big Lots liquidator's.

I mean a read a story this week talking about the new cartoon fad of Sponge Bob, where have these people been?

So back to my point it's time all the so called experts move on, there will always be some people behind the curve but for the majority digital is not just here, it's been here a long time.

So what should they be writing about instead? How about content management (also old to most professionals) but may be a challenge for people starting to build giant libraries of content. Reminders that you have to archive and back-up. Setting up naming conventions, workflow, color management, how and where to get the best color, how to use that cool new printer that came free with your last order of french fries. There are so many things to talk about. Yes whenever there is a new crop of digital toys out there we do need to get reviews so we all know it's time to head to the local Walmart, Target or Best Buy and upgrade least we be perceived by the digerati as being behind the style curve. But otherwise git it a rest already. There are so many things worth writing about, if only the writers had any idea what they were talking about they could get past the basics and start teaching, providing real and useful information. Not being a writer myself but a constant reader, I am often surprised at how easily we accept whatever writers dish out, so long as it is done eloquently and with lyrical or otherwise fancy prose. We follow so easily if someone can write or speak with talent, grace, or authority that we will believe anything they have to say, so long s it is said well.

So here's to encouraging all the real writers out there to keep up, move on, and pay attention to details before writing about old or behind the curve things that make you look foolish and lacking to those who do keep up, even if we don't write so well.
